Becoming a Christian... or "Getting Saved" as it is oftentimes and otherwise phrased, is actually pretty simple.  Personally, I think the whole simplicity of it actually throws people off.  Please allow me to break it down...

 

Where does it start?  It all starts with a conviction within YOU.  

 

What does that really mean and what is this conviction all about?  Well the conviction is essentially you coming face-to-face with some undeniable truth or reality, to the extent that you find it near impossible to ignore what you now understand or realize.  In the case of becoming a Christian (i.e. becoming Christ's) that truth is that you, me, people from all the world are born as sinners and have sinned and are undeserving of the best that God has to offer us (Romans 3:23).  

 

So you can basically consider this Step #1... realizing, accepting and admitting that you are a sinner (a "violater" of the laws of God).

 

Step #2 isn't too far off from Step #1.  The next step is simply to further this understanding to humbly embrace the fact that, not only do we NOT deserve Christ's best... but that we deserve NOTHING.... nothing that is except death (Romans 6:23a).  You may ask "But why?  What have I done to deserve this?"  Well aside from merely inheriting this sinful nature, we all at some point, through this very same sinful nature have violated, broken or otherwise trespassed God's laws (i.e. sinnned against Him)... a Holy God who chose to give us life!

 

Then finally... yes FINALLY.... Step #3 is to understand the sacrifice that the one true Holy God of all creation made, in that while we were still sinners, He put together this carefully crafted and laid out plan to send His only Son down to Earth (Romans 6:23b), to take all our places and pay the outstanding debt of death for all of us... once and for all who would but accept it! ... and how do I accept this wonderful sounds-too-good-to-be-true gift?  Well, if you've understood everything up to this point all that would be left for you to do now to seal the deal, is to talk to God and simply, with the understandings mentioned before, ask God to forgive you and make you His own.

 

THAT'S IT!!! Simple right?

To hep you out and make it even easier.... here's a little prayer for you to pray... I must warn you though, though a great transformation will take place in the spiritual realm and silently within you... don't expect horns and trumpets and confetti to suddenly blast forth at the end.  This whole thing, this entire process, is a personal process between you and your Maker.
