When we stop along the road side to purchase fruits we look for the good fruits.  The trays at the supermarket are carefully scrutinized, searching for the fresher, riper looking fruits.  We all want the best fruits.  No one picks up the spoiled, rotten, and infested with maggots, fruits.  As a matter of fact the seller would have discarded those long before the buyers come along.

Matthew 7:16-19 makes reference to good and bad fruit, how we can identify them.  Galatians 5:22-23 speaks about the fruit of the Spirit, what we should all strive to produce.

When we examine what the Lord wants us to garner from His deliberate inclusion of simple analogies as in the case of Matthew 7: 16-19, without a doubt we will begin to recognize that there is much more to be gained from living lives that resembles Jesus Christ.

As Christians the world is watching us with great scrutiny.  Their need to make a decision about their life will be tremendously influenced by our behaviour.  By the way we live, give the non believer a picture of who God is.  They will see God through us.  Hence if we profess to be a Child of God yet our lives are not distinctly different from those in the ‘world’, then...

There is a line of a song I believe we each need to prayerfully and purposefully pattern and it says, “When anyone looks at me, let them see Jesus.  Let me be an example of His love and mercy to them.  When they start to read my life story, I want it to bring my Saviour glory.  When anyone looks at me let them see Him.”

PONDER – Who do they see when they look at you?  Are people saying that you resemble Jesus Christ?  Are you an excellent representative of Jesus Christ?

PRACTICE – Being like Christ is not a walk in the park.  It takes much work.  However focussing on developing an intimate relationship with God will certainly accomplish the desired effect.  In other words if you desire to resemble Jesus Christ, get to know Him.

PRAYER – Father I want them to see You in me.

PASSAGE – Romans 8:5,” Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.”NLT
